‘Manhattan 2000’

‘Manhattan 2000’ is a tour de force in design, materials and fine hand cutting. This inspired architectural piece takes its name from the year in which it was completed.

It is constructed from 768 individual pieces of quartz, including rock crystal, citrine, amethyst, as well as rutilated, tourmaline, smoky and rose quartzes. These have been individually cut to create subtle variations in colour and finish, ranging from matt through to polished, mirroring the rich tapestry of textures in New York’s original stone and glass facades. The piece is mounted on a solid black granite base reflecting Manhattan’s actual substructure.

This extraordinary work of art, entirely handmade, took a highly experienced master gemstone cutter over two years to create. ‘Manhattan 2000’, a dynamic three dimensional canvas which plays with form, light and shadow, is an eminently precious crystal vision of a legendary city and an outstanding collector’s piece.
